Here's just some of what Employment Connection has been up to since our last newsletter.

Patient Access Representative Graduation

Our second cohort of Patient Access Representatives graduated from the paid training program! In partnership with BJC Healthcare, trainees learn skills and receive placement services to help launch a career in healthcare. Congratulations to our graduates!

Special thanks to State Rep. LaKeySha Bosley and Alderwoman Christine Ingrassia for attending the event to further celebrate our clients! And thank you to BJC Healthcare for their ongoing support of the Patient Access Representative Training Program!

Great Southern Bank Donation

Employment Connection board member Brian Davies, who serves as Market President of Great Southern Bank, recently joined his colleagues and Employment Connection staff to present a donation to the agency in honor of the Juneteenth holiday. Great Southern Bank is a big supporter of our agency, as they have provided several other donations in support of our various programs.

Employment Connection’s Food Giveaways

Employment Connection recently partnered with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Altman Charter Company, The Black 14, Friends of Employment Connection, and State Rep. LaKeySha Bosley to distribute over 20 tons of food to our clients! Additionally, our Cure Violence teams in Wells-Goodfellow/Hamilton Heights and Dutchtown helped to distribute even more food to neighbors in need within their catchment areas.

Employment Connection Celebrates Father's Day

The recently formed EC cheer team recently hosted a gathering for the fathers and father figures at Employment Connection. The luncheon was well attended and appreciated!

United Way of Greater St. Louis Helps to Organize the EC Client Closet

Michelle Tucker, President/CEO of the United Way of Greater St. Louis, recently led a contingent of volunteers who worked diligently to organize our client closet. Our client closet contains a number of complementary items that we make available to our clients including toiletries, diapers, PPE supplies, children’s clothing, and school supplies.

Missouri Announces Funding for the Dutchtown Opportunity Coalition for Youth

Through a partnership with the Incarnate Word Foundation and Employment Connection, $100,000 in grant funding from the State of Missouri for the Dutchtown Opportunity Coalition for Youth (DOCY) was announced in July! Thank you to State Representatives Rasheen Aldridge and Steve Butz and State Senator Karla May for their commitment to supporting Southside kids! The DOCY initiative also includes Gene Slay’s Girls and Boys Club of St. Louis, Dutchtown South Community Corporation, and Thomas Dunn Learning Center.
