First Solar Training Class of 2026 Graduates

Congratulations are in order for the graduates of our first Solar Panel Installation Training cohort this year! Nineteen clients completed the program, which included classroom instruction and field experience, and now we will continue our work by assisting them in securing employment in the growing solar industry.

For more information on this and other paid training programs offered by Employment Connection, please feel free to reach out to our Manager of Green Jobs at  (314) 333-5619 or TownsS@employmentstl.org.

Thank you to U.S. Bank, StraightUp Solar, and City of St. Louis - Community Development Administration for supporting our Solar Panel Installation Training Program!

Our Next Green Jobs Training Cohort Has Started!

A record number of participants came out in February for our Green Jobs tryout session held at the Fresh Starts Community Garden! Garden founder Rosie Willis addressed the participants before they worked to prepare raised beds for the upcoming growing season and to remove debris from the alley outside the garden.

25 participants were ultimately selected for the first of three Green Jobs cohort training sessions this year. For more information on this great PAID training program, please contact us at (314) 333-5619 or at TownsS@employmentstl.org.

North City Corridor Services Office Now Open

Thanks to all of our guests who attended the grand opening of our new North City Corridor Services Office in the Hamilton Heights neighborhood! In addition to our friends from the North St. Louis community, we were joined by several community partners and local and state elected officials, including State Senator Steve Roberts, State Representative Kimberly-Ann Collins, State Representative Del Taylor, and Alderwoman Pam Boyd. Everyone enjoyed the networking and complimentary lunch, and 4 guests won $50 raffle gift cards as part of the festivities!

Charles Hatley, our new Manager of North City Corridor Services, has begun facilitating our World of Work job readiness training program at the office, located at 5504 Natural Bridge. Call today at (314) 499-7209 to register, or you can email him at hatleyw@employmentstl.org. Below are two recent graduates of World of Work at our Natural Bridge office!

Impacted Tenants Fund

Employment Connection, in partnership with the City of St. Louis Department of Human Services and the City’s Building Division, launched the Impacted Tenants Fund in late fall of 2025. As of the end of February 2026, we have approved 120 applicants and disbursed over $159,000.00 for renters displaced from their homes by either the tornado that occurred in May of 2025, and/or because their rental unit was condemned for occupancy by the City’s Building Division.

If you or someone you know has been forced to relocate due to storm damage or condemnation, visit the City's website to learn more about the Impacted Tenants Fund

University Crossing Update

Construction continues on pace at University Crossing! This mixed-use, transit-oriented development at the North Hanley MetroLink Station is a partnership between Bywater Development Group and Employment Connection. It will include 60 modern apartments along with a satellite Employment Connection office to better serve our St. Louis County clients. We're on track to complete construction this fall!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Love was in the air as EC's Cheer Team helped us celebrate this special day by selling candy grams to staff who wanted to show their love for each other (all funds raised will benefit future Cheer Team events) and by hosting a “Lover’s Lane” luncheon, where staff enjoyed a great meal together!
