MHDC Approves Funding for University Crossing Development

Employment Connection and Bywater Development Group are thrilled to announce that the Missouri Housing Development Commission has officially approved the financing for our University Crossing development in North St. Louis County!

This approval marks the launch of our plan to create 60 high-quality mixed-income apartments for families that make up the workforce in the St. Louis region in a transit-oriented development context at the North Hanley Metro Station. In addition, the development will include the establishment of a new North St. Louis County office of Employment Connection to serve the residents of this development and the larger community with employment and career advancement training and support!

Bringing the Joy of the Season to Our Clients

With the help of some of our generous partners, we're delighted to be able to share some holiday cheer with our clients and their families!

We recently hosted our Winter Wonderland event at EC HQ, where clients and their families were invited to join us for food, entertainment, fun, gift baskets, and toys for the kids!

Once again this year, Bob Blattel of Blattel and Associates Financial Planners organized a holiday toy drive for our clients' kids. We thank the Blattel family for their support and commitment year after year!

We also received a donation of bicycles for our clients' families from our friends at the United Way of Greater St. Louis and Anheuser Busch!

Thank You to our Board of Directors

With another successful year in the books, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude to Employment Connection's Board of Directors! Their steadfast guidance and dedication to building stronger communities across the Bi-State Region allows us to continue our mission of breaking down barriers to self-sufficiency for people with limited opportunities.

Our Board is led by officers President Richard Buckley, Vice President Brian Davies, Treasurer Steven Fiamingo, Secretary Elicia Eskew, and former agency CEO Brenda Mahr. Serving as Directors are Christopher Forbringer, Kem Mosley, Kendra Moore, Tyler Olsen, Melva Pete, Lisa Shelley, Justin King, Abdul Oganla, Antonio Dansberry, Jr., and Mark Marifian.

Charmaine Chapman Society and Divine 9 Clothing Drive at United Way

The Charmaine Chapman Leadership Society and the Divine 9 Sororities and Fraternities celebrated A Gathering for Good at United Way Headquarters on December 7th. In addition to coming together to share the holiday spirit and recognize leadership in service, members also held a clothing drive to collect professional attire to stock the Employment Connection Community Market and make sure clients can put their best foot forward while pursuing new employment opportunities. Members of the Charmaine Chapman Society will also be visiting our headquarters in January 2024 to assist us in making improvements to our clothing closet and client market! Thank you for your support!

Team EC Spreads the Love

Happy Holidays from our team to yours! Our staff shared holiday cheer and got to know each other better during a week-long gift exchange. Each team member was anonymously assigned another. On Monday through Thursday, they provided a $1 gift each day. Then on Friday, the gifters revealed themselves with a bigger gift and a special note to Spread the Love to their teammates.

The end-of-year fun continued this week with our Cheer Team designating unique themes for each day of the week, including Team Spirit Monday, Tacky Tuesday, Pajama Day on Wednesday, Throwback Thursday, and Festive Friday!

After another great year of serving our clients and communities, our staff will be taking a well-deserved break from Christmas Day to New Year's Day, and our offices will be closed. We look forward to working with you in 2024!
