Cure Violence Updates

Our Cure Violence teams have been hard at work in the Wells-Goodfellow/Hamilton Heights and Dutchtown neighborhoods. As of February 2021, our Cure Violence staff have

  • Recruited 46 high-risk clients on their active caseloads

  • Conducted 220 de-escalation sessions

  • Held safe in-person and virtual events on a monthly basis

  • Actively distributed free public education materials, PPE supplies, pre-packaged food, and energy-efficient exterior lightbulbs thanks to Ameren Missouri

The Cure Violence staff's hard work has already had an enormous impact and shootings and homicides via firearms are trending down in the Cure Violence neighborhoods. Hear from community members who are already recognizing the difference that Cure Violence is making: "Dutchtown Cure Violence is a needed, unifying presence and only a phone call away." -Keba Jones, property owner in Dutchtown

"I am so excited to welcome Cure Violence to Dutchtown. As a longtime resident and DT2 Board Member, I have already seen the impact Cure Violence is having in our neighborhood...Cure Violence plays an integral role in Dutchtown as we seek to reduce violence in our community. I am thankful for the work they have done in the community and am excited to see how their presence in the neighborhood will positively impact Dutchtown." -Adina O'Neal, Dutchtown Resident | DT2 Board Member | Nonprofit Consultant

"I think the work that the Cure Violence team is doing is great. I see y'all out here when it is scorching hot, pouring down rain, and freezing cold. I can't ignore the fact that the killing rate in this neighborhood has been reduced since the Cure Violence team has been out here." -Ricky Mull, resident from the Well-Goodfellow neighborhood
